With Meat Markets

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

FORGET intimate Italian wine bars, it seems the hottest hangout for Sydney’s A-listers in 2009 is… the local butcher shop. To celebrate its opening the Victor Churchill butcher shop in Woollahra – Where else? – will this week host not one, but three, launch parties for foodies and the social set, with a cast of dozens, if not thousands.

Tonight Neil Perry and James Paton, managing directors of Moet Hennessey in Australia, will sup on canapes from the Bistro Moncur chef Damien Pignolet. Tomorrow the MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin will join Gerry Harvey and Katie Page, and Justin Hemmes to sample food from the Quay chef Peter Gilmore, and on Wednesday the Chef Shannon Bennet, of Melbourne, cooks for Colletter Dinnigan, Deborah Hutton and the chef Luke Mangan.
